About.... Hackett Goaltending

Achieving athletic success takes preparation, commitment and hard work.

Goalies who train with Hackett Goaltending will be put to the test and will quickly learn the definition of "hard work".  We start with an overall assessment of your game - identifying what is working and what is not working. Then, we develop a plan that is specifically designed for you to help you improve your game.  Think of the program as "building blocks" - stripping away bad habits, re- learning the fundamentals of goaltending and then building on those fundamentals to reach the next level of play.

In addition to improving athletic capabilities, our program will help you learn life long skills such as how to assess situations, overcome obstacles, think critically and persevere through challenges.

About.... Matt Hackett

Matt Hackett played in the OHL between 2006 and 2010 for both the Windsor Spitfires and Plymouth Whalers.  He was drafted into the NHL by the Minnesota Wild in 2009.  Matt made his pro hockey debut on December 2011 where he earned his first NHL shut out.  That same season, Matt played 12 games and earned a 2.38 GAA.  In 2013, Matt was traded to the Buffalo Sabres where he sustained a major knee injury against the Boston Bruins.  During the NHL lock-out, Matt signed as a free agent with the Anaheim Ducks.  After playing in the AHL for a number of years, Matt went on to play in Europe for Detva, Slovakia, Coventry Blaze, Great Britain and Stjernen, Norway.  He still holds the NHL record for "longest shut-out streak to start a career "(102 minutes, 48 seconds).

"I have known Matt Hackett for many years, and I would highly recommend him to anyone wishing to increase their knowledge and improve their goaltending skills.

I have often worked out with Matt sharing the same off-ice trainer and have been on the ice with Matt during many summer hockey sessions.  I have always been impressed by Matt's strong understanding of goaltender fundamentals and his strong work ethic.

Matt is a very hard-working, focused, goal-oriented athlete.  He has gained much respect in the hockey community over the last decade and I am confident he will teach his winning attributes to his students at Hackett Goaltending."

Testimonials

"Not only is former NHL goalie Matt Hackett truly one of the nicest people you will ever want to know, but his training methods are incredibly effective.  My son, Gabriel has developed and improved his game with great strides forward under Matt's tutelage."

"I met Matt Hackett when he joined my gym, The Training Station in 2012.  Matt was a delight to train because he was (and still is) professional, extremely hard working and goal-oriented.  Matt always arrived at the gym 30 minutes early and came prepared to work hard.  He never complained when the training became intense and difficult.  Rather, he demonstrated a burning desire to improve himself and pushed himself to succeed.  I strongly believe these qualities powered Matt to become one of the most successful goalies this region has ever produced.

Over the years, Matt has continued to stay in touch with me - he is a thoughtful and caring person.  It was a pleasure to train someone of Matts calibre both as a person and a dedicated professional athlete."
